palm springs

any suggestions on what to do in and around Palm Springs when we're done with the tennis and golf?

Hi,

You could take the Palm Springs Tramway cable car up the mountain to 8,000ft approx where there are numerous hiking trails or just enjoy the view.

If you are into wind farms you could take a wind farm tour!!

Outlet shopping at Carbazon Outlets ( 20 mins by car en route to LA)

You could visit Joshua Tree National Park, either through the Cottonwood entrance east of Indio or make the hour drive up to the 29Palms entrance.
If you like WWII history visit the Palm Springs Air Museum and make the trip out to Chiriaco Summit (30 mi. east of Indio) to the Patton Memorial Museum.
Palm Springs now how 3 annual film festivals -- the International Festival in late January, the Festival of Short Films in September, and the Film Noir Festival in late May/early June.

You could also hit Palm Desert-- El Paseo is the ritzy strolling/shopping/dining main drag. Lots of new techniques in hair restoration and facelifts on parade. Note that in the "dead" of summer, some stores may be closed (as the owners head to cooler places-- like nearby blast furnaces).

At night, there are good restaurants in the area, and nightlife here and there. Talk with the concierge at your resort.

Just back yesterday from a long weekend there (actually La Quinta). Even though it's a "dry" heat, temps around 100 will drain you of energy. Turned out my favorite activity was bending my elbow, cup in hand, whether around the pool or patio.

If you've kids in tow, there's a fun water park near the PS airport (owned by Knott's). If you are shoppers, the Street Fair at College of the Desert is open on weekend mornings; lots of interesting stuff.
