Palm Desert Food
 

We are headed to Palm Desert in mid March and would like some restaurant recommendations (any kind of food) from the La Quinta area to Palm Springs. Would prefer moderate prices to high prices. Thanks for your information.

Go to the Mexican Restaurant, El Adobe, at the La Quinta Resort (reservations). Sit out on the patio at sunset, overlooking their beautiful grounds and fountains, and listen to the music of the Gypsy Kings nightly. A great experience.

I, among others, just suggested the Yard House in the River shopping mall in Palm Desert on a recent other thread.

It's fun sampling a few of their 100 + brews and the food is absolutely agreeable, if nothing fancy.

For very good Mexican food and moderate prices, I recommend Rosamarillos in Indio bordering La Quinta. It is located at the corner of Avenue 50 and Jefferson Street.

Probably the best sports bar in the desert with grill food and huge selection of beers on tap is the Beer Hunter, corner of Washington and Hwy 111, La Quinta.

For breakfast, Louisa's Pantry on Washington Street between Ave 47 and 48.

Another moderately priced but decent food place is Stuft Pizza, Old Town La Quinta.

If you want an old time Indio authentic Mexican experience, check out Theresa's Cafe.

For a picnic, get sandwiches from the deli at Jenson's market at Washington and Highway 111. They have some great combos, like the Sinatra, Dinah Shore etc that come with side dish, very reasonable. Another option is to get picnic supplies at Trader Joe's on Washington Street. You could take to Francis Hack or one of the other La Quinta parks up towards the LQ cove. Or if you are more energetic, hike the Boo Hoff trail into the Santa Rosa Mtns.

All of these have good food and are easy on the wallet.

I absolutely second the idea of getting sandwiches made to order from Jenson's Supermarket!

We thought Thai Smile was so good we went back twice. There are two of them in the area.

Thai Smile is a long time favorite of ours. There are 3---Original location in PS, Rancho Mirage in La Quinta. Call it my imagination, but I think the food at the PS location is best. That's where 'mom' still cooks.

Tom Yum Kai soup and red chicken curry are...awesome.
