Palm Beach, restaurants, activities
My wife, myself and our 3 y/o daughter are going to Palm Beach for the first time June 9. We are staying at The Breaker. What do you recommend for a family like ours to do as far as activities, and restaurants?
|
Are you renting a car? I would hope so as there is not much public transportation. The Breakers is amazing. I have never stayed there but have ate dinner there as well as spent a few hours in a room.!.... The 3yr old might enjoy Lion Country Safari, where you drive through a safari with your car and see all kinds of animals around you. Over the bridge, downtown West Palm Beach has been redeveloped. Clematis St and Cityplace are always busy and full of restaurants and shopping.

Suggestions: 1) Enjoy the Breakers, its beach, spa and golf course, 2) The Flagler Museum is walking distance from the Breakers and focuses on Henry Flagler's development of Palm Beach and its history, 3) Renting bikes and biking the Lake Trail in Palm Beach (you get a good view of the water, West Palm Beach and many of houses of Palm Beach, 4) Walking Worth Avenue, 5) Lion Country Safari (as the previous post said) is fun for the kids, although my wife and I have enjoyed it too (you drive your own car through with nothing between you and rhinos, lions, giraffes, etc.).

you will only be half an hour from boca raton and there is a lot to do there. morakami japaneese museam and gardens is good. try schoolhouse childrens museam in delray. see sfparenting.com for the calendar of events in p.b. county and that will help a lot.

Chuck and Harold's restaurant is just
across the street from the Breakers.
Pricey, but nice.
Also, go to CityPlace - across the waterway, but very close. New complex with all sorts of trendy stores and restaurants (FAO Schwartz, etc) movie theaters) - built
like a Tuscany village. Musical fountain show every hour or so. There, try
the Cheesecake Factory for fun and good food, and Mark's for great food (wonderful sunday brunch for $19.95.
