palm beach questions

My husband and I are thinking about going to Palm Beach for a few nights at the end of January. I've read great things about the Breakers, but it is sold out. What about the Ritz or Four Seasons? One better than the other? Is the Ritz too far from the main area? Also, we need some restaurant recommendations. We live downtown Chicago and enjoy going to the hotspots. Any advice appreciated. I'm not finding a lot on this board. Thank you!

stayed at the Breakers, and it is a classic, however, if it is booked it may be due to a conference which takes the magic away anyway - really corporate work keeps these grand dames going although it changes the feeling. Ritz is wonderful, but does not have that historically classic feel. I would definately stay there and love it for all the right reasons, however with it or the 4S you will want a rentalcar since Palm Beach is a few miles away. Check out the gingerplumwine martinis at Echo!!! Wooo hoo!!!

If you want to be near the hotspots, or Worth Avenue, stay at the Brazilion Court which is just about the epicenter. It isn't on the beach.

I would keep trying to get into the Breakers, it is fabulous. They may have some cancelations.

I've not stayed at either The Ritz-Carlton or The Four Seasons.

I have stayed at both the Ritz and the 4 Seasons and they are as different as night and day...But BOTH are terrific..

Both hotels are really in Manalapan-a 10 min drive down A1A (Ocean Dr) from Palm Beach proper..

The Ritz is Old World-typical Ritz , with spa and a gorgeous OUTDOOR pool...actually this is the BEST part of the Ritz...

The 4 Seasons is way way more modern=but also very luxurious...

Both hotels are about maybe 2 blocks apart..There is a tiny shopping center just across the street from the Ritz..

I would stay at either- depending on availablity and rates...

The Brazilian Court, while newly renovated, with an awesome new Daniel Boulad (sp) Restaurant, has no beach..

If beach is a priority, I would stay with either of your first choices...

The Breakers is gorgeous..but if no rooms are available, the Ritz or 4 Seaons are great alternatives..IMHO, ALL 3 hotels are GREAT- You really cannot go wrong...

Restaurant recommendations: Taboo, Bice, Daniel Bouloud

I'm am planning a trip to Palm Beach in October, and have two questions. How far a drive is Palm Beach from Miami....we'd like to stay at the Breaker's, how is the Children's program there, we'll have a 4 year old with us.

Depending on how fast you drive and how much traffic there is, the drive from Palm Beach to Miami is about 1 1/2 hrs.
