Palm Beach
We are going to Palm Beach, FL the end of July and would appreciate advice on where to stay for about 4 or 5 days - somewhere nice on the beach. We've always wanted to check it out and now we have a chance since we're already in that direction. Does the town close down during the summer?

cmj,

A lot of people leave PB during the summer as they find the heat and the humidity unbearable.

How much do you want to spend on a hotel? I am guessing, but I bet you could get some very good prices on hotels during the summer. THE BREAKERS is the grand old dame of them and would
really be a PB experience to stay there. (Big Mansion on the beach).

Michele

Actually, the Ritz-Carlton is THE place to stay in Palm Beach, but, as stated above, it WILL be hot as hades!!

Do you want to stay in Palm Beach proper, or is a beach resort near the Palm Beach area most important? If it's Palm Beach proper, I think the previous posters have given you great advice. If you want a nice beach resort, consider looking into properties near Del Ray Beach and/or the Jupiter area. Both are within 1/2 an hour of Palm Beach and may have more moderately priced choices than the two in Palm Beach. You can check out www.gopbi.com as it's a pretty comprehensive website for the Palm Beaches area.

I totally recommend www.mangoinn.com It's a bed and breakast that my fiance & I stayed at when we visited Palm Beach last November. It's gorgeous and the innkeepers were wonderful - also the food! ;)

Don't stay at Mango B&B in July. It's cute but you'll want to be right next to the ocean to maximize the breezes.

If it's your first time and you want Palm Beach, definitely go for The Breakers! Rates should be down for summer and you'll ge the real Palm Beach experience.

If you want first-class, go with The Ritz but it's not really in Palm Beach.

Delray is a great spot too.

Have fun!
