Will be visiting Lk. Powell with spouse and 3 kids in June. Will only be there for 2 days and want to know as much about fishing and sight seeing during this time of year. Can anyone offer me some good info?

We went to the Wahweap Marina & fished right off their covered fishing pier. I believe there are also boat charters that go out for fishing trips.

Rainbow Bridge NM is awesome but it is an all-day boat ride out there & back with a 2.5 mile roundtrip hike also. Just before you get to the dock, the boat goes through a slot canyon. That was alot of fun & it includes lunch.

Also in Page are tours to the Upper Antelope Slot Canyon -- definitely do this one late morning -- really great (must go by guided tour though).

You can also tour the Glen Canyon Dam & take a short hike to a Dam overlook.

Another short hike is to the Horseshoe Bend overlook.

You will love Lake Powell -- very relaxing.

Wondered what boat company you went through to do your trip (all day). Sounds like fun. What was the cost?
I've also read about a float trip on the Colorado River. Does anyone have more info about this? Like where does it leave from? Cost? Can you fish? Bring lunch? Etc...

There is only one authorized concessionaire that is allowed to do the boat tours and float trips because this is a National Recreational Area governed by the National Park Service.

The Colorado River float trip is $62.00 per person. It's a wonderful 1/2 day tour. You are taken down to the base of the dam by buses in the tunnels that were built to build the dam. You travel 14 miles down river on the rafts. You stop once for a pitstop and to see the petroglyphs. It's a lot of fun.

I also love taking the all day boat trip to Rainbow Bridge National Monument. The lake is really, really low so you have to hike 3 miles (round trip) to see Rainbow Bridge. The two times we have done this trip, the lake was high enough so we didn't have to hike. Just keep in mind that it gets really hot in the summer in this area.

Interestingly, I was just reading a piece by Edward Abbey, in Beyond the Wall, entitled Damnation of a Canyon: ”Within the lifetime of our children Glen Canyon and the living river, heart of the canyonlands, will be restored to us. The wilderness will again belong to God, the people and the wild things that call it home.”

I just booked the boat trip to Rainbow Bridge through the John Wesley Powell Museum. I don't have the confirmation in front of me, but I think the price is about $105 per person. Booking the trip through the museum allows them to earn a small commission while not increasing the price of the ticket.
