Page/Lake Powell Water Levels

I am considering eliminating the Page/Lake Powell portion of our vacation due to the water levels I read about at Lake Powell? Any thoughts or info out there? Can we still do either float trip or similar activities?

A WSJ article three or so weeks ago was very pessimistic about water levels.
They thought them catastrophic with nearly no hope for tourism this summer.

It looked like a half empty puddle last summer.

We, too, have a float trip planned on June 22 at Lake Powell. However, I certainly don't want to go all the way there if it is not worth the trip. How can we find an honest answer to this question? I don't know that the tour operators would be the best to ask since they stand to gain by us coming whether the water is good or not.

I need to find out fast since we will need to make other plans.

I can't see the lake levels stopping the float trips this year.

I was at Lake Powell last summer and there was plenty of water and I've read the levels are about the same as last year.

I stopped by Lake Powell 3 weeks ago and was shocked at what we saw. We didn't go to the Marina, but on a walk overlooking the "Lake" in Page. We couldn't hardly see any water and the huge rock that you pass in the beginning that was used in several movies had no water in front of it at all. 4 days prior to this we had taken 89A towards the north rim of the Grand Canyon and passed Lees Ferry which is a bridge passing over the Colorado River. There was water there. Someone mentioned about releasing water downstream so there would be water in the river and it did look OK. I have serious doubts about Lake Powell however.

If you can do the raft, take a tour of Antelope Canyon. The boys would probably love that too. That is very popular and you get that in Page. It's conducted by the Navajo's.
