paddle surfing?

We oldies might try something different: stand-up paddle surfing. Never heard of it before today's article in the NYT magazine. Anyone know of any somewhat calm shores in the US to try this? Anyone ever tried it when they hit 50? Thanks

Saw them doing this on Kauai about 3 years ago.
Looked "different".

I'll let you know once I hit 50. :^o

Lots of folks doing it in the placid waters of Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai last summer. It probably isn't as easy as it looks.

There were 3 people out paddle surfing today in front of my home on Pensacola Beach. DH, Surfertom, hasn't tried it yet, though he's well past 50, but plans to. Our surf is so often non-existent that he's hoping it will give him an exercise he likes and help him stay ready for when the surf does come up. So I know that the coast along the Florida Panhandle has the right conditions.

Well, if the Times is writing about it, you can bet it's actually been around for a few years.

They have been offering this for a few years in Hawaii. Pretty much any resort can arrange for it.

There were pictures of jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox doing this a few years ago, in fact.

It's great.

Beware, surfers call them "janitors"

Takes a lot of skill to sweep the floor like that on waves.

Go to Maui or Kauai to really do this.
