Packing for Yellowstone/Tetons

We are leaving this weekend for the Tetons/yellowstone area. We are not camping, but are staying in the inns. My question is about what to pack? How cool does it get at night? We were planning to take mainly shorts for the day.....do we need more than jeans/sweatshirts/light jackets for the evenings? Thanks

Hi Carol,

I was there two years ago. What you are taking is precisely what you need. The days are really hot, and the nights cool down to the 50's. Have fun..this was one of our all time favorite trips!

Yep - it does get cool at night. Pack a fleece jacket and pants for night. It can be really hot during the day. Have fun - it's beautiful!

Aside from the weather, mosquitos can be pretty bad around the lake, so you may want something to cover your arms and legs in that area of the park.

Carol,

We were in the Teton/Jackson area 8/99 and stayed in inns. Our trip was 9 nights and we did wear shorts most days. I would definitely pack walking shorts, knit shirts, socks/hiking shoes, a sweater and sweatshirt (pack for 'layering'). Our dining was in Jackson and we always wore jeans (as do the locals). The evenings are chilly, the sky bright with stars. You are going to one of the most beautiful areas of the US. Have a wonderful vacation!
