Thank you Thank you. We won't cancel our trip then. To us in IA watching all the news about that fire looks devastating and we have never experienced anything like that. Our fear here are the tornados. I had no idea if 3 hours away from a fire like that was a threat or not.

Are we still ok going to Carmel with the fire situation in Santa Rosa? If something changes please let us know.

janisj Oct 16th, 2017 05:53 PM

The fires are winding down (still burning plus hot spots but many people are getting to return home)

What is there won't affect you in Carmel.

Thank you but what about the new report of fires southwest of San Jose now. We were flying into San Jose. How about the air quality. Appreciate it.

Stupid site won't let me post so

janisj Oct 20th, 2017 07:34 PM

. . . -- well that was special :) Wouldn't let me post then submitted w/o me finishing the entry . . . So will try again.

That fire is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is small (less than 500 acres) and about half contained. Plus it is cool and there was rain last night so it will be knocked down soon. It is in a canyon and has affected many residents but it shouldn't affect you in Carmel.

Does anyone know if the Henry Cowell park is affected by the fire or smoke?

janisj Oct 21st, 2017 06:39 PM

Henry Cowell seems to be fine from what I've read. But just go -- there could be 5 more fires by next week - or none. the weather has turned so we currently aren't having the strong winds that whip up the fires.

Thankyou everyone.

Has anyone used Payless rental from SJC?

november_moon Oct 30th, 2017 04:06 PM

jhagerman - You probably want to start a new thread for your question to make sure people see it.

jhagerman64 Oct 30th, 2017 04:44 PM

I did that too.

janisj Oct 30th, 2017 05:15 PM

. . . and I posted to it.
