Ozarks Question
Can anyone offer Lodging suggestions in SW MO for 1 nite in August? From the Fayetteville,AR area, we're trying to see as much of the Ozarks as possible in 30 hours. We plan to visit Eureka Springs but the lodging there looks too honeymoney? Is there state park-type lodging available in SW MO? We would like to not go as far as Branson.Several folks have mentioned good State Parks in AR but none appear to be in the NW corner - does that sound correct? Thanks

There are plenty of "non-honeymoon" type accomodations in Eureka Springs, and if you're going to be visiting the area, you might as well stay in the vicinity. It's a lovely town.
I've stayed at the Crescent -- it's a restored old hotel with a vintage feel. Fabulous antiques. We weren't heonymooners and we didn't feel out of place. But there are also lower priced chain hotels like Best Western, Comfort Inn, etc. http://www.eurekasprings.com/ |
Just saw information on the Big Cedar Resort. Can someone please give their opinions?
Thanks |
We were at the Big Cedar Lodge last month and LOVED it. It is nice but not cheap. We had a gorgeous view of Table Rock Lake from our room and porch.
www.big-cedar.com We also drove to Eureka Springs for lunch. It was a cute town and worth the trip. |
Big Cedar is basically right outside of Branson. It is wonderful, but you will have a hard time booking anything this late and it is expensive. We have stayed at Chateau on the Lake, which is right by the Tablerock Lake and the state park there. It is very nice and not as pricey as Big Cedar. I live in KC and find Eureka Springs to be too touristy. But the Chateau is enough outside of Branson that you can avoid all that.
