own food in theme parks, CA

Hy everybody - I got a few questions about the theme parks in CA
1. Am I allowed to bring my own food into a Themepark, like Disneyland or Universal Studios, or Six Flags in CA. I was thinking of biscuitts or fruit and some soft drink - as I know it is quite expensive and mainly very crowded in the restaurants in the parks???
2. What if I bring a rucksack where do I put it if I want to go on a ride - can I carry it along???

THx for all the help
For Disneyland/Cal Adventure, the made an announcement on the tram about outside food and drink. They asked that you picnic in a designated area outside the park.

Nevertheless, we saw lots of people eating their own food -- including entire meals -- inside the park. They did not inspect our daypacks. I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't know if there is a place to store your pack, though. Perhaps someone else remembers?

Disneyland has lockers in a building on Main Street. It's pretty well advirtised on their property map. It's located in the same building as the lost and found. We stored stuff in there all day. It was very convenient. We've always taken snacks and water. There are lots of people taking in this type of food. Not everyone can tolerate all that fried food.

There are lockers at California Adventure (near the restrooms by the front gate). I think they're $3 and you can get in and out of the locker all day at no additional charge.

We have always brought food, water, etc into Disneyworld and Universal and have never had a problem. If you take a small backpack each just use frozen juice boxes to keep the rest of your food cool instead of a cooler, this way you can carry the backpacks with you and throw everything away, even the juice boxes after they've melted and you've drunk them. Once at a local waterpark one of the lifeguards approached me as I was making sandwiches and I just told him one of my children was on a special diet (he is, no garbage!) and couldn't eat the food in the park. He said fine and walked away. I'm sure there are many who cannot or will not eat that junk.

I saw an awesome idea on here one day. I think it was the CapriSun (??) instant drink mix in the premeasured containers. Easy to take along. Just buy yourself a large glass of ice water, dump this stuff in, and you have something good to drink and a WHOLE lot cheaper. We're not into the trail mix stuff, but we brought granola bars and snack crackers. Went ahead and bought meals, but supplemented with our own snacks and juice boxes.

There are usually locker areas in these parks. I know for sure that they have them at Six Flags Magic Mountain & Legoland. My friends & I bought sandwiches from outside, put them in backpacks along w/ bottles of water & stored them in the lockers until we were hungry & went back for them. A lot cheaper & a lot healthier!
