The Financial District is pretty dead on the weekends. And also you probably don't want to schlepp your luggage that far back and forth - stay at one of the midtown Marriotts. (My friend with a Marriott membership prefers to stay at the one on Lexington Ave; it's next door to a W that has a decent bar and a bit of a lively scene.) The one on Lex, the Marquis, the Renaissance are all relatively close to the Club Quarters.

A group of my friends stayed at that Club Quarters for the same reason (great price!). I don't remember details, but there were no complaints.

Is the booked night in the middle of your trip? It might be an opportunity to see another city since you've never been to the NorthEast. Boston?

While the financial district is dead on weekends, that Marriott is very nice and would give you a different perspective staying downtown. I'd go for it. Your other option is to try bidding on Priceline for a 4* hotel for the night. I'm certain for a 1 night stay (unless it's a holiday or something unusual) you'd get something for $200 or less.

I also think an overnight trip somewhere on the weekend is a nice idea.

Hey everybody.

Yeah, we're staying Sunday - Monday (8 days later), and the Club Quarters is fully booked on the Friday night right in the middle. So we have one of two options - move somewhere else just for one night and move back to Club Quarters, or just move to another hotel entirely for 3 nights (which is difficult considering we would be paying less than $200/night for CQ for the other two nights vs. $350 everywhere else).

Priceline may be a great idea for one night...thanks! Do you think it would be equally successful for three nights?

I was contemplating going somewhere else for the weekend (outside the city), but there are a few problems with this:

1) I'm guessing that the residents of NY go away on the weekends sometimes, right? I dont want to "follow the crowds" out to the country (with the high prices...)

2) It's our one and only time in NYC probably....I think a Sunday morning in NYC would be awesome.

3) I would have to rent a car, which is an added hassle.

But on the plus side, we would get a break from the city...but from what I'm hearing, people say that there is so much to do that it's hard to get "burned out." What do you think?

If you need a "break from the city", spend a couple of hours under a tree in Central Park
