overnight stay near Ft.Lauderdale Airport
 

We are flying in April and will arrive after midnight. Any suggestions on where to stay just for those few hours? We will rent a minivan and drive to the Keys the next day (or same day, as it happens). 4 adults, one toddler...son was told not to stay by airport as it is "unsafe"...I say...we get a shuttle to an airport hotel...too late to be getting a car and driving with the baby...

I'd say line up a car ahead of time and get a small jump on your trip and drive down to Homestead or Florida City to a motel.

I'd want to get out of the immediate airport. Not because it is unsafe (it isn't) but because it is such an unsightly area.

I've stayed near the airport for business. You don't want to be walking out and about, but it is just fine to take an airport shuttle and get to sleep. Someone can take the shuttle back to the airport the next morning to pick up the rental car while the rest are getting ready. I'd stay at one with a good free breakfast.

There are a couple of Hampton Inns near the FLL airport. I'd pick the Hampton Inn and Suites location.

I HATE to spend that much money for just a few hours..we won't even use the amenities...I have the AAA book with all of the airport hotels listed..guess I will have to just suck it up and start calling!
