Overnight stay along Newburyport/Rockport train line

We will be in Boston for 4 days, and would like to stay north for one night, somewhere on the Newburyport/Rockport train line. We won't be driving so would like a suggestion for a town, with a hotel within walking distance of the train station. We were looking at Rockport, but doesn't look like there is a hotel close. Thanks for any suggestions.

There are several motels and B&Bs in Rockport, some within easy walking distance from the shops/restaurants etc. in town.

You will be taking the T (MBTA) from North Station, not AMTRACK . Use their site for schedules. You will probably be able to find a cab or uber from the station to your lodging.

Just google B&Bs in Rockport or lodging in Rockport to find several. Or go to Google maps, put in Rockport, MA then zoom in until the names of places show on the map to find ones that are close to Bearskin Neck area.

Do realize that the Commuter Rail schedule is set up for those commuting into Boston in the morning for work and back home again in the evening rush hour. Trains other than at those times run less frequently. You can check schedules at the MBTA site.

There is a beautiful historic hotel in downtown Salem, but I don't recommend anywhere in Salem if you are traveling in October.
