Overnight parking in San Francisco
Any tips on the best place for overnight parking in SF in the Chinatown area? I was thinking of the Sutter Stockton garage, but I read some discouraging reviews online about break-ins.

Honestly, the Sutter Stockton garage would be as safe or safer than any other public parking.

No matter where you park, public, private, open or enclosed, do not leave ANYTHING visible in your car. If you must leave something in the car, lock it in the trunk, and be sure you can't open the trunk from inside the vehicle (if the window is smashed). When I say don't leave anything, I mean not an iphone cord, not a t-shirt, preferably not a tissue. The thefts at garages are crimes of opportunity - don't make it inviting.

Oh, and the garage at Portsmouth Square is probably just as good a choice as the Sutter-Stockton garage.

>>do not leave ANYTHING visible in your car.<< . . . and don't wait til you are in the parking lot to put your things in the trunk. Put them in the trunk when you get in the car in the first place.

There is a couple of places near Union Square that are in the 28$ range and safe. But not sure that is close enough for you to Chi town

Thanks everyone; it worked out fine. I had cleared out my car before I drove to SF, so nothing enticing was in sight. My hotel reimbursed me upfront for some of the parking cost since their website was inaccurate. All in all, it was the best choice!
