Outerbanks in September 2013
My husband and i are planning to spend a few nights in the Outer banks in September.
Can someone recommend a place to stay. I have not done much research yet but would love to stay in a bed & breakfast with beach access. We will be coming from Indiana. thanks |
Hi,
There are a few B&B's on the Outer Banks, but there are also Rental cottages of all sizes. I'm not sure how many B&B's have direct beach access. Most may have water views. What kind of vacation are you looking for? - Quiet Relaxation: You may want to stay on Ocracoke, NC or in Manteo. - To visit all the sites and/or be closer to amenities: You may want to stay more central in the towns of Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, or Nags Head. Trip Advisor has all the B&B's listed with reviews. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g6...na-Hotels.html |
The Outer Banks are more than 200 miles long, almost as far as Fort Wayne to Louisville and just about as varied. Do you have any idea of where and why you want to go?

For what you want I would suggest you look somewhere such as Duck or Corolla Light.
There aren't that many B+B's in some areas such as Nags Head and all the way down to Hatteras Village. Ocracoke you might have better luck. Not knowing your budget take a look at the Sanderling Resort in Duck or the Inn at Corolla Light. Now, OTOH there are all kinds of motels, etc., which have beach access and Spetember can be a wonderful time to stay on the OBX. The prices drop somewhat, the water is still warm, a lot of families with children are gone because schools have taken back in mid to late August. There IS the possibility of a storm in that timeframe so be aware. |
Oh, and BTW, from past experience, start looking NOW not tomorrow.
