Outer Banks -- restaurant suggestions -- good seafood!!
Hello!
We will be taking a "mini-vacation" to the Outer Banks in a couple weeks and are in need of some restaurant suggestions. We love seafood. We're looking for suggestions in all price ranges (perhaps a nice meal one night and then some less expensive options for the rest of the time.) We're staying in Manteo on Roanoke Island, but we're planning to drive and explore the region -- so please feel free to suggest restaurants anyplace in the area!! Thanks! Cindy |
We like Fisherman's Wharf on Roanoke Island (Manteo/Wanchese). Very casual - not a fancy place at all. Good for lunch too! One of the best dinner I've ever had was at the Sanderling Inn in Duck. Top notch. Make reservations now though.

These are some of my favorites:
1587 (upscale) located at the Tranquil House Inn on the waterfront. Clara's (moderate) Seafood and burgers. Waterfront shops in Manteo. Blue Point Grille -(moderate). Great food. soundside in Duck Flying Fish- Casual setting but sophisticated food. MP 10 Business Rd Carolina Blue (upscale) Southern Shores Business Rd. Ocean Blvd (upscale) same owner/chef as 1587. MP 2 Beach Rd. Kitty Hawk Cap't Franks (best hot dogs and fries on the beach) MP 4 Business Rd Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar - casual seafood MP 6 Beach Rd Kill Devil Hills Big Al's Soda Fountain & Grill - Diner food, juke box, pin ball machine. Manteo (across from Christmas Shop) Basnights Lone Cedar (family place) - traditional seafood, huge servings. On the causeway to Manteo Colington Cafe (moderate) wonderful seafood. On Colington Rd (soundside) in Kill Devil Hills |
Don't bother with "Turf's Up" in Duck - a huge waste of money - unless you like BAD service and overpriced average food.
