Outer Banks or Key West

My boyfriend and I are looking to get away in October of this year. We are thinking either Outer Banks or Key West. My question is has anyone been to either of these destinations during October and can tell me what the weather was like (I looked on weather.com but the range is large). How long would I need to enjoy either of these destinations?

Hi Kelly - October is beautiful in Key West. Not too hot or cold. It's always kind of humid in the winter, even in KW, but the bulk of the heavy summer humidity is past. Do, though, make your plans to either come for, or avoid Fantasy Fest (Oct. 20 - 29) http://www.fantasyfest.net/. Fantasy Fest is a free-for-all, bachanal type experience that brings in alot of people. Some people love it, some think it's way to X-rated, some try and avoid the crowds altogether and come in times that avoid FF. Check out the website and perhaps others can weigh in on their experiences. Have fun wherever you go!

We were in Key West last October and the weather was very warm! A couple of the evenings I put on a light sweater, but I tend to get chilled easily. Nice weather overall! Hope you enjoy your trip at either destination!
BTW, long weekend (4 days) would probably be enough time...

I've been in OBX in early October and it can be lovely...and it can be pretty chilly! (and rainy) I've been swimming in October, if that's any indication, but often it's really windy on the beach. OBX is great at any time, though, but I haven't been to Key West so I can't compare.
