Outer Banks Dining
Any suggestions for a few great restaurants on the outer banks? 3 sisters looking for a great dinner out without the kids...we are staying in Duck and Corrolla.

I posted my trip report a few posts down I was just there 2 weeks ago.
We went to the Sunset Bar and Grill in Duck. The Blackend Tuna was the best piece of tuna I ever had. They have really great outdoor dining, just in time for the beautiful sunset. Great drinks too. I think they have live music thurs-sun too. I wished we would've went back another night. It does get crowded though so be prepared to wait at the bar or go early. There is a huge grouping of stores in Corolla, right now the name escapes me but there is a fudgery, a cotton gin, etc. On the left side of the road heading north. There is a restaurant in that plaza that we had lunch at that was excellent too. But I cant recall the name, I am sorry, I was on vacation my brain wasnt working. Have a great time We did! |
We were in Corrolla last summer and went out one night without the kids. I believe the place we went to was Elizabeth's, and I'm pretty sure it was in Duck. It was very nice (and expensive) as I recall, but the food was excellent. Definitely a place to go for adults only. Have fun!

Topping.
I would also like to know some other nice places to eat around the Duck/Corolla area. Preferably on the water.. |
Here's a follow-up - after our return from NC -
Re: restaurants - Ocean Blvd is great - a short ride from Corrolla to Kitty Hawk. Our meal at Sunset grill was just so-so and the place seemd not that clean to me with carpeting that looked like it neededa good vacuuming. Be sure NOT to eat at TURF's UP at the TimbukTwo center in Corrolla! We had the WORST fiasco of service there where our waiter ruined a family reunion dinner by (oops!) forgetting to place one person's order for dinner. We asked to speak to the owner and he was so rude and arrogant to us that we left speachless. This place touts high prices and "fine dining" but they have a long way to go before they fit the bill. One really fun thing we did was hire a professional photographer who met us at 8 AM on the beach for group photos. We all dressed in blues and tans. It was great fun and we are gretting some beautiful photos from it. They are digital and he shows them to you immediately back at the house and posts them to a website. There are many photographers in the area that do this....but you should reserve one. We were lucky to get one last minute. Email me if you want his web site. Enjoy your stay! We love the Outer Banks! |
Hands down...the Blue Point in Duck. Better get reservations though. Their sister restaurant Ocean Blvd is very good too.
