Outdoor dining in Old Sacramento

Any suggestions for a good restaurant with outdoor seating that may allow us to have dinner with our dog? She unfortunately suffers from bad joints so is now unable to walk but is remarkably perky and travels with us in a doggie stroller.

The only one that comes to mind is Joes Crab Shack - they have a deck overlooking the river- however the dog may be a problem

I've been thrown out of bad joints before but never had one...knock wood.

Rio City Cafe, Delta King but as the lovely s'bum suggests, check to see if they allow pups in outdoor seating areas.

Does it have to be Old Sac? Can you go up the river a bit to Crawdaddy's, Jammin' Salmon, Alamar?

I've been up the river but fortunatley I had a paddle. It was a dog paddle but it got me by.

Alohaaaa...and we KNOW at least you or your DD have actually been IN and ate at the places!;)

We'll be tearing it up at a 'Cats game Sat night and got the Sheraton Grand for around $75, complete with a closet (in case Ms Bets is out there lurking!).

Why does this not surprise me?

My DD took me there for Mothers Day -
we had crab cakes and garlic mashed potates- YUM!
And of course the river view is a plus.

Have fun at the game - but it sounds like its hotter than H--- there so take it easy - drink lots of water and only a little beer -

Aye...she's a good DD!!!!

maybe sundogcat could stop at one of the sidewalk cafes along Capitol Ave, Kst, Jst. A lot more dog freiendly places opening up from what I hear.

Maybe janisj will come to shortly and assist?

Hey Ms Scarlett.....Warren Buffett is giving away millions and I SPENT millions AT Buffets!!!

reporting for duty :)

I would normally recommend Rio City Cafe - but I had a suspicion they would not allow dogs.

So -- TaDa - I just called them. Yes - not on the main dining deck but at the Tower Bridge/Crab Shack end. I've eaten at that end of the deck several times and it is fine. It is more where they serve drinks/bar snacks but also offer the full menu too. The mgr - David - said that if by chance the host/hostess said the dog wasn't allowed to tell them it was OK at the "Tower Bridge"

Alohaaa jj,
I used to be the "Greeter" at the Delta King....we used to call it "Howdy Duty".
:O)

I'll have to check out the restaurant at The Embassy Suites to see if they have outdoor dining. I think they do but I don't believe they have a river view. :-?

Oh - just saw I might need to clarify my post a bit

"Yes - not on the main dining deck, but the dog would be allowed on the Tower Bridge/Crab Shack end of the deck."

Hi back, Kal (did you wear hawaiian shirts/shorts when you were on Howdy Duty?). . . . .

Kal Jun 27th, 2006 08:40 AM

Actually I wore some jeans, checked shirt, red boots and a kerchiff.

FainaAgain Jun 27th, 2006 08:43 AM

anybody here brave enough to ask Kal where he tied that kerchief?

Shanghainese Jun 27th, 2006 11:41 AM

Thanks to all.... you are AWESOME!! Just arrived in Sacramento and will head down to Old Sacramento. Our dog is a 10 year old JR terrier who recently developed joint disease. Despite being unable to walk, she is perky, happy and loves to be around people. Again, thanks for your info.
