Ouray CO in early April?

I grew up spending a week every summer in Ouray, CO. We just moved to Denver, planning on doing a long weekend next weekened, and were thinking about going to Ouray just because we CAN. We have a 1 year old and so will primarily just taking in the scenery (knowing the jeep roads will be closed) and maybe some snowshoeing/playing in the snow.

Some stuff appears to be closed. I hoped that at this high of altitude it wouldn't be total mud season - that we'd still be able to do some snowshoeing, and that Ouray would still be its beautiful charming town.

Will we be disappointed if we go this time of year?

Also - Box Canyon Lodge vs. Victorian Inn - any suggestions? (we want a suite)

thanks!

Victorian Inn!!! They have a couple of family suites on the south end of the complex, on the second floor with a balcony that overlooks the river out of Box Canyon Falls. I love Ouray, and we end up there every time we go to Colorado - and we always stay at the Ouray Victorian Inn. Unfortunately, I don't know about what it will be like in April - we always go in the summer.

How much snow was there this year?
