Our maui HM itinerary-Please critique

I put together a itinerary for our May honeymoon and wanted to get some advice from the experts before I book everything. Please inform me how the plans look and if you would make any changes. Do you think the plans are in a good order? Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Day 1: Arrive in afternoon. Check in to Wailea Marriott. Relax and explore the area.
Day2: Sunrise bike ride down volcano. Nicks restaurant for dinner.
Day3: Seawatch for breakfast? Day of relaxation at beach.
Day4: Check into Four seasons. Beach/Spa time. Dinner at Ferraros.
Day 5: Maui ATV riding. Check out Lahaina. Warren and Anabelles in the evening.
Day 6: Snorkel cruise with PWF. Dinner at Sarrentos.
Day7: Road to Hana
Day 8: Relax during day. Feast at Lele at night
Day9: Relax/Explore/Beach. Go to Iao Valley
Day10: Relax and dinner at Mama's Fishhouse
Day11: Return Home in evening.

I would have to say that one of the two things I would have cut from our last trip was the snorkel cruise. (The other was the tragic luau). Snorkeling is good most anywhere and the price we paid for the cruise didn't really add to the enjoyment of just walking off the beach. The sea was rough and the waves in Molokini Crater were bouncing mad. I would trade the cruise for the scuba diving lesson and trip we took right off the beach.

Also, I would add lunch at Hailemaile General Store Restaurant and a trip to the top of the volcano. You have very little time set for Lahaina and you will enjoy walking around town. Be sure to see the Banyan Tree.

I am no expert, but here are my 2 cents. I think your itinerary is great. Some ideas to consider...since you are switching hotels, you might want to stay at another part of the island rather than just Wailea. Also, you might want to save the move to the Four Seasons until after you do the road to hana. It seems a shame to spend so much on a hotel and not be there the majority of the day. Also you could combine the Iao Valley trip to either after the sunrise bike trip or on the last day prior to the flight departure.
I am sure you will have a great time!

My recommendation would be to go to Mama's on your way back from Hana, or on your last night before you head to the airport. That way you're not making so many trips in that direction. Have a fun!

Also, you have no plans for the far western side of the island. Honolua Bay is a great place to see surfers, and the trip around that side of the island is as interesting as the road to Hana, in my opinion. Lots of great hiking opportunities. Have a great time!

I apprecaite the responses so far. I looked over what everyone said and made a few changes. We do plan on exploring Lahaina more than I had written. I also switched the road to Hana to earlier in the trip so we can enjoy more of the four seasons. I decided to switch the warren and annabelles show to saturday night because I felt the drive to Ulupalakua for the ATV riding and then driving to Lahaina for the magic show might be too much for one day. Thus I bumped snorkeling and sarentos to sunday. I also decided to do the Iao valley trip for the last day as well as dinner at mama's to try to minimize the driving. I will consider exploring the west side of maui, but I am just not sure if there is enough time in the 11 days. So please let me know if this looks better and if there are any other suggestions. Again thank you for the help so far.

It's your call, but, two days to "see Lahaina" is about 1 1/2 days longer than I'd devote to it. T-shirteries, eateries/drinkeries, kitsch purveyors, arts and crafts and a very large banyan tree comprise the town. You might cross off 1/2 day of one of these when you're doing a luau in Lahaina and drive up northwest. The scenery is spellbinding. You'd still be done in plenty of time for dinner in Lahaina. Or, you might combine your northwest excursion with your visit to the Iao needle.

Hi usfgator,

Your itinerary looks great! It's great that you've specifically built in time to relax because all too often people try to squeeze in too many activities.

As for exploring Lahaina - you will likely be able to see much of the Lahaina shopping area in a 1/2 day. For the other time you have planned for exploring Lahaina you may want to explore the Kaanapali beach area - for instance Whaler's Village. There is a walkway between the Sheraton and Hyatt on Kaanapali beach (Whaler's Village shopping area is in about the middle). If you're like me, you may want to go explore some of the other resorts for future visits - fun to see what they have to offer and have a drink.

Overall, I think you have just the right mix of activities and relaxing inlcuded in your itinerary. You're going to have such a great time!

Happy honeymooning!

Cheers,
Tracey
