Other travel forums?

A recent post referred to other travel forums that were helpful. I am aware of Frommers (which IMHO doesn't come close to Fodors) but none others. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm always looking for more input on travel destination. Thanks!

There is always lonelyplanet.com, which has an extremely active series of forums collectively called, "The Thorn Tree". While I have obtained a lot of good information there, most of the travelers there are very low-budget backpacker-types, or trolls posting rubbish to try to get a rise out of people. Its still worth a try.

Concierge.com, which is associated with conde naste traveler (great magazine) has a forum. Unfortunately it is not very active and you usually don't get too many responses to questions asked. Many questions go unanswered, but check it out, the more people who go, the better it will get

When I want to check in at another travel forum, other than Fodors, the first 1 I go to is:
www.ricksteves.com
Although it is not nearly as active as this forums, & it usually only deals with Europe.

I like the old USENET newsgroups (via deja.com, among others)

rec.travel.usa-canada
alt.culture.alaska
rec.arts.theatre.musicals
rec.outdoors.national-parks
rec.backcountry
misc.transport.road
rec.boats.travel
alt.great-lakes

and many others.

Also, for Yellowstone I think www.yellowstone-natl-park.com chat is the best. For Theatre, theatremania.com and talkinbroadway.com can give heady previews and good advice.

I find misc.transport.road news group fascinating, as there are many 'DOT' experts that virtually know or can find out answers to any road question possible. I've seen wonderful trivia such as when certain states will replace their Interstate Exit numbers from sequential to mileage-based (such as I-80 in Pennsylvania).

Ivillage.com has a travel board as does parentsplace.com. Both sites do require registration.
