OT - recommendations for a PDA
 

Does anyone have a recommendation for a PDA or a good website for evaluating PDAs?

I'm Windows based if that makes a difference.

Both of the major PDA operating systems-- Palm OS and Windows CE-- will interface with Windows-based PCs. The Palm OS itself is a bit more stable than Windows CE, last I heard, but Windows CE offers stripped-down versions of popular MS Office software for more-or-less transparent file compatibility.

If you're using the PDA as an organizer, Palm OS synchs with MS Outlook, so you can maintain calendars and contact lists in both places quite easily.

As far as manufacturers, I'm a Palm OS guy, so my choices are basically Palm or Handspring. Right now I have a Palm Zire 71, and I like it just fine. You'll have more choices with Windows CE. But I went for OS stability, so....

If you're not a hard-core systems person, either one will serve your purposes, so go for best feature-cost profile and reliability. Hopefully that MSN site will be helpful.

Thanks for your responses. There was some good basic info in the website (though many an ad for HP product). Info from current users I find the best.

Ahh, the joys of technology. I've been a paper and pen with a whole lot of sticky notes kind of gal for a long time. Hoping to combine everything (calendars, notes) in one source will help.

OHHH! I thought you were asking about where to go for a Public Display of Affection.

I only have very limited experience with these but I bought my husband the Garmin IQue for our baby's birth (I got a ring). He actually chose it. One thing that I do really like about it and has been great for traveling is the mapping system - it has a built in GPS. She (we call her Miss Information - get it!) acts like the Onstar thing, turn right, turn left etc but also has listings for restaurants, hotels, sights etc. When we are headed to a certain area he'll download the maps for that area. It really has been helpful.

I think he seems like to the other software, he likes that it has the more complete versions of Excel and Word - some PDA's have abbreviated version I think.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I do like the PDA and GPS in one unit if that interests you.
