Orpheum Theater NYC
 

Can anyone tell me about this theater area? My husband and I will be taking the subway back (Astor Ave) from Stomp and we are a little nervous since it will be late at night.

No reason to be afraid. Don't forget that you will probably be in a fair sized crowd as others will be leaving the theatre and heading for the subway at the same time.
But it is not a "scary" area anyway.

When Stomp lets out, it's not "late" in this neighborhood. There will be plenty of young people out and about. Astor Pl is quite a popular stop so the subway will probably be fairly crowded. No need to worry.

At that time the subway and busses are transporting people just like you.

This is still New York, after all.

Thanks for all your help. Traveling should be enjoyable, but sometimes it's stressful just planning. Nowdays there is so much to think (worry) about. Since reading the posts I DO feel better.

Really truly, I live in this neighborood, and there are more people on the streets at 11PM than at 11AM.

It won;t be late at night. In NYC tons of shows and movies are getting out then, people who had diner are going home - and a lot of others are going out for a late dinner or to a club or bar.

Late in New York is 3 or 4am - not 11pm.
