Orlando Resorts/Orbit 1 vacation Villa

My husband and I won a 3 day stay at a vacation villa, "Orbit One" in Orlando, Florida -- we are cancer survivors, and the event was a doorprise at a gahtering of survivors... so I doubt this is an attempt to sell a time share...has any one stayed here, is it worth the energy?

Cathy,
You have definitely been sold a bill of goods. Read the fine print. Possibly, they have waived a very low fee for the stay, but you will still probably be required to attend a sales pitch/ tour. These are folks who have been trained in hard sales techniques. Do not feel guilty by saying, "no, thank you." You might even make them shut up by saying you were in remission, but now are in dire straits! Honestly, you owe them no explantion. Go and enjoy your trip. The time it takes to tour vs the expense is minimal. Many people do this and they expect it.

Me again. I have written a letter to this resort. I pasted your question and told them that I was a writer (true) and intended to follow this story on Fodor's forum. I hate to see anyone duped or misled in any way. If they do not come through,we will expose them! Good luck on your recovery and health. I lost my stepdad to this disease last year, and feel deeply for you.

Cathy,
Sheila at the resort wrote me a lovely note this morning, assuring me that you do not have to go to a presentation. You have some blackout dates (holidays) but your stay is free and you only pay "incidentals". You must call with your certificate number to make a reservation. Okay Fodorites- this is ORBIT ONE villa in Orlando, who offers these for charity and good causes. Thought I would put in a good word for them, as they were very helpful and responded immediately. Have fun in Orlando, Cathy!

Csthy,
So glad to bring you a grin. While you're in Orlando, try to get over to Celebration. It's a town designed by Disney and looks like "The Truman Show". We thought it was really neat. We're going in Nov for our annual trip to the International Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT. This goes on for 4 weeks- 2 in Oct , 2 in Nov. I HIGHLY recommend this!!!! Very low time for crowds- food is awesome, little booths set up all along the country walk offering native cuisine and wine/beer. Grand tastings, wine tastings, seminars on everything. Lots to do. Celebration has a "Taste of Celebration" in Nov as well. If you want any info, please write me at [email protected] Enjoy!!!

what part of Orlando is this town? Is there a fee to park, etc? Going in August.

linda Jun 5th, 2002 04:56 AM

Celebration is just south of DisneyWorld. You will see signs off Hwy 4, 192, etc. There is plenty of free parking around town. There are nice restaurants with lake view, shops, art galleries. We were lucky to be there on an art festival weekend. Nice stuff, no junk. Here's the site: www.celebrationfl.com/
