Orlando-MCO Airport question
How long does it generally take at MCO between picking up your luggage and getting the rental car? How far are the car rental counters from the airport building? Are they in the same building (like in Ft. Lauderdale) or will I need to ride a bus (like in San Francisco)?
Thank you.

I know that to get to the baggage claim from your arrival gate you have to take a monorail type train. Doesn't take too long. Rental car counters are down by baggage claim.
The previous post is right in that you have to take the monorail to the baggage area, but that only takes a couple of minutes.

Note: SOME rental car counters are at the baggage claim area. For some others, you have to head back upstairs with your luggage. And then there are some (Alamo, for instance, I think) that are off the aiport property. Check with your rental car company.

Although it doesn't take long to get to the rental car counters in the airport last year I waited IN LINE almost 2 hours at MCO to pick up my car. I think it was Alamo...
|
Thanks. I'm afraid I may have to spend lots of time in line there since my vacation package uses ALAMO as the car rental company.

The last time we were in Orlando, we rented from Payless. They send a shuttle to pick you up at the airport; the whole process took about 10 minutes. Also, surprisingly, there was no line at the counter - not a single person (it was around 9 a.m.). Their price was also incredible: $85/week for a midsize.

A lot depends on the time of year you're visiting Orlando. If it's spring break, you may have a line ahead of you. We've been there many times when it was in-and-out no hassle - but not during Easter season. Maybe their Quicksilver frequent rental program would help you out.
