ORLANDO IN NOVEMBER

My husband and I are thinking of going to Florida in early November for 2 weeks. We would like to spend some time in Orlando,How crowded are the theme parks at this time? We will also be touring other parts of florida, and maybe spending some time on the Gulf Coast. Will the sea be warm enough for swimming? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dear Nic,
We went to Florida during the first week of Nov. in 1999 for a family trip to Disneyworld. While there were definately people there, we found the theme parks very uncrowded. The big attraction rides had no lines early in the morning and 15-20 minute lines in mid afternoon. It was a wonderful time to go. I can't answer your other questions.

Nic,

We also went to Disney last November. As you may recall, there was an extra long holiday for Veteran's Day--I believe a four-day weekend. We got there before this holiday, and it was very uncrowded--the best we'd ever seen it. However, scads of Floridans arrived for the holiday and crowded it up again. It wasn't as bad as other peak times, but quite crowded.

Thus, my recommendation is to stay away from Orlando at times Floridans might go--like on Veteran's Day.

It was warm enough for our kids to do some swimming then, and we definitely would go again in November, school schedules permitting.

DEFINITELY check out Deb Wills unofficial guide site at www.wdwig.com for lots of tips on seeing WDW & Orlando. Early November should be great time to visit. Also consider a visit to Discovery Cove, owned by the same folks who own Sea world, new in orlando, by reservation only. They have a web site with lots of info. my family is going late August & we have reservation, I will post review here after we go.

Just another quick question. Are all the waterparks open in November?

Nic,

www.wdwig.com should be able to tell you about water parks. I believe not all were open last November.

Veteran's Day is a day in honor of all war veterans. The official date is November 11. I see that it's a Saturday this year, so I'm not sure if there will be a "long" Saturday-Monday weekend or not.
