Orlando hotel for childless couple

My wife and I will be traveling to Orlando this summer. We have no children. We would like to stay somewhere fairly upscale near Orlandos attractions. We would prefer the hotel have a great pool and a nice variety of onsite restaurants. We understand kids will be everywhere but would prefer to stay somewhere that doesn't necessarily cater to families ala the Disney Resorts. There are so many hotels to choose from that any advice to help narrow them down would be helpful. Thanks.

The Grand Floridian is very upscale and right on Disney property. It's a beautiful hotel, too.

I'll second Grand Floridian. One of my friends has been doing contract work at Disney World (tough job!), and she always stays there and RAVES about how nice it is!

Grand Hyatt Cyprus Resort. Relatively few kids. Great pool, andother resort attractions (vaarious types of boats on lake, bike trails, par 3 golf etc). About 15 minutes to the parks by car.

Hemingways in the grounds is a good (food) casuale (atmosphere) restaurant and the hotel dining room is supposed to be good - we didn't do it.

If you're trying to minimze contact with kids do not stayat Disney - they're everywhere - even the more upscale resorts. (Even if 95% behave - the other 5% can make dinner inntolerable.)

And I think they're worse there - perhaps more spoiled? We were in the Grand Floridian for dinner - OK - not great and there was a 5 year old having a scareaming tantrum on the floor of the lobby and 2 older kids (8 and 10?) playing hide and seek among/under the diner's tables - untill the whole family was escorted out.

Hyatt Grand Cypress has tons of kids, but is a very nice hotel on beautiful grounds! The Ritz isn't as close to attractions, but I would think (no firsthand knowledge, whereas I've stayed at Grand Cypress scads of times) there would be fewer kids.

I love the Ritz/JW Marriott (they share the same complex), as well as the Omni Orlando Championsgate. Both have phenomenal pool complexes and great restaurants. I actually prefer the Omni b/c the rooms are bigger and the lazy river is better, but I know most people don't select their hotel by the quality of the lazy river. Seriously both are great. The Ritz/JW Marriott has more restaurant choices, but the Omni has 3-4 and we really liked Zen (their pan-Asian restaurant).
