Orlando activities for active seniors; theme park or no?
 

My husband and I (both in our 60s) are doing a road trip after my niece's wedding in St. Augustine next month. We will end the trip with 4 days in Orlando and were wondering how best to spend our time there. I considered going to Harry Potter World or Epcot, but not sure if they are worth the money.Opinion? Universal just opened a HP theme park in LA, so we could drive there from home.
We enjoy nature hikes, birding, and the arts. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you have never been to Disneyworld then I think that Epcot is reasonable for one day. Just be sure to pick out what you want to see most and go there first. When we went we headed straight to the world showcase and did that area first when it was empty and then came back to the section near the entrance after lunch. Also know in advance which specific activities you want so you can avoid wasting time at whatever just turns up in front of you.

Reco advance reservations for lunch at one of the decent restaurants so you're not stuck with fast food.

It is less than an hour over to Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral, which is very interesting.

If the theme parks (Disney/Universal) are not high on your list of things to do you will probably not find them worth the money or the effort to visit.

I like emalloy's suggestion and will add to it. Visit KSC in the morning then head north to Titusville and get late lunch at Dixie Crossroads (try the rock shrimp). Then head over to Canaveral National Seashore for scenic drives/hikes and wildlife (birds galore as it's a wildlife refuge).

Thanks for the feedback! We are also staying a couple of nights before Orlando at Daytona Beach and I was planning to visit KSC. Dixie Crossroads sounds great, as does the National Seashore.
I'm leaning toward Epcot instead of HP. Will look at the website and decide - thanks for the tips for visiting the park!

Just so you know Harry Potter is split between the two Universal parks so you would have to buy a 2-park ticket to see the whole thing.

Epcot is my favorite Disney park by far. I think as two 60 somethings you will like it as well. Not so much focused on thrill rides (though I highly recommend you ride 'Soarin'). But good for strolling through the countries and exploring and eating and drinking.

Playalinda beach is my playground. Canaveral National Seashore is better than the KSC. Playalinda beach, New Smyrna Beach, my next favorite. I live in between the two. Where are you staying in Daytona?
