Oregon wine country: where to stay for 1 night stay

We will be spending time on the Coast and on the way back up to Portland to catch the plane home we'd like to spend one night off the main interstate maybe in wine country or someplace that isn't too far from the airport. Or, we could just spend one night in Portland otherwise we'll only see the airport. Any suggestions are appreciated

I live in the area and would suggest a stay at one of the McMenamins places. Their website, www.mcmenamins.com, will show you the two places I am suggesting. Try either in McMinnville, which is right in the heart of our wine country (hwy 99 area), or in Troutdale (off hwy 84, pretty close to the airport). Each McMenamins is unique and we have enjoyed them for years.

I haven't stayed there but Youngberg Hill in McMinnville might be nice.

If you stay at the McMennamins they will also do tours of the wineries if you don't want to drive.
But if you are going to be in the Newberg area, make sure to hit rex hill it is a wonderful winery and a great place for picnics.

The Youngberg Hill winery is one of the most equistite places we have ever stayed. Our room was marvelous and the grounds and view are incredible.

I realize this reply is late, but I wanted to also say that I loved Youngberg Hill B&B.

We had a cozy room on the main level that had a fireplace, a private bathroom, and a door to the deck. When we awoke in the morning and looked out from the deck, the sun was up, low clouds were settled in the the valley's of the gentle hills, and family of deer were walking along the treeline. It was amazing....and this was January 1st!

Breakfast was plentiful and served with the other guests at a large table in the dining room.

Anyway, I loved it and thought I'd share.

BTW, one of my favorite wineries to visit in the area is Lange - great Pinot Noir.

Was that Jan. 1st of this year? Just wondering because we had quite a bit of snow that day! We drove down from Seattle that morning and even up in Vancouver only 1 lane of I-5 was open.
