Oregon White Water
Has anyone been whitewater rafting in Oregon in June? If so, please give me some recommendations. We are in our 40's but would love to do it.<BR>

The trip down the wilderness stretch of the Rogue River is incredible! Morrison's is both a great place to stay right on the river (just outside of Grants Pass near the tiny town of Galice) as well as an outfitter that does daytrips as well as 3 day trips down the river where you stay at inns at night, some of which are mostly accessible just by the river. Highly recommend Morrison's as outfitters as well as a great place to stay---and it's a beautiful river.

We have enjoyed rafting on the lower Deschutes River, from Maupin. That would probably be a one day trip with an outfitter, although one can go farther. One can do it as a day trip from Portland, or stay overnight around Mt. Hood, I'd think. It is a lovely trip, in the dry part of the state, through a red, rocky canyon, blue sky above. It is very different from the green, forested Rogue. In June, I'm not sure what weather you'd expect on the Rogue. Perhaps Ms. Ghost will get back on this one. It is likely to be sunny on the Deschutes.

There is much of the Rogue river which is in quite dry areas. This is southern Oregon here and in the summer (especially August and late July) it's HOT as heck. Usually more than 20 days of over 100 degrees in the Rogue Valley.

Thanks so much for your help. We have 9 days in Oregon and I know I wanted to go whitewater rafting but the time of year affects the rivers. Thanks so much.
