Oregon visit
What is the best time of the year to visit Oregon for a week or so?
|
What sorts of things interest you?
|
The Oregon Coast is perfect after Labor Day. Smaller crowds and still warm enough to enjoy the beach (but not for swimming).

We are older couple. Primarily interested in scenery, Restaurants, wineries.as needed.

OK -- there would be very different answers for different parts of the state. (Fodors doesn't charge by the word so you really can give us more info/details ;) )
The Oregon Coast -- entirely different than say Crater Lake or eastern Oregon. |
@ OP: Please tell us a bit more: what are your interests? Hiking, cities, or only beaching? How many peoples? Children? What part og Oregon? Where from will you fligh in?
This forum is not stingy with words. So the more you tell us the better we can help. |
The weather is usually very nice in the fall- September for instance. When I first moved here it typically was quite rainy until Jul 4 but weather has changed and weather is quite warm in the summers. However, if its hot inland, its frequently cold and foggy at the coast.

For scenery I'd suggest the Oregon Coast.
For wineries there are many in the Willamette Valley which is a very pretty area. As others are pointing out "east of the mountains" is very different than "west of the mountains" for weather, landscape, even political climate (same in Washington state). |
Thanks all for your input.

I'd say the best time of the year is late spring, summer, early fall.
|
September because you can enjoy scenic drives and wineries without the summer crowds.
