Oregon Qustions

Will be flying into Boise, Idaho on Labor Day weekend. Have two questions. How long does it take to drive from Boise to Bend, Oregon? Also we are going up the Oregon Coast and would like to see seals. Is there any one place better than another to see them?

Strawberry Hill (close to Yachats)
is a good place to see seals- they sun themselves on the rocks there

and its a good place for tidepools too-
are you sure you mean seals? or sea Lions?

Either would be fine with me.

Great!! Do you happen to know how long a drive it is from Boise to Bend?

It is roughly 6 hours from Boise to Bend. I would not do the Sea Lion Caves as there are other places you can see them for free, and in a less smelly environment. Newport at the bayfront, or Lincoln City down by Siletz Bay (where the Mo's is there) are places we have seen them in the last month.

Thanks, I really appreciate the info.

Just spoke to my nephew who has driven from Boise to Bend many times. He stated that the drive takes about 6.5 hours. Shortest route is leave the ariport get on I-84 toward Oregon. Exit in Ontario to Hwy 201 south. Then take Hwy 20 (same as Hwy 26 for a portion) towards Vale, Burns and on into Bend. You can also take I-84 to Biggs and then Hwy 97 south to Bend, but that route adds about an hour.

Hope this helps.
