Oregon Fruit loop
Has anyone does this route on way to/from Mt. Hood? There are 36 suggested stops which would take more than a day, any suggestions on the best ones and/or places to dine would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Route 35 from Hood River gives spectacular views of Mt. Hood on a clear day.
The drive from Hood River to Timberline Lodge takes about an hour. Have lunch there. We go to Hood River two or three times a year and each time we drive the "Fruit Loop," but we haven't found 36 places to stop--perhaps because we aren't shoppers. |
The Fruit Loop means different things to different people. It got its name from all the orchards/farms in the Hood River area, and the loop that makes the rounds from many of those places. But a lot of people use it to mean doing a much larger loop including the Gorge, Hood River, and Mt. Hood.
Are you wanting to stop at all the farm stands or are you wanting to see the general area? |

I was referring to this Fruit Loop: http://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/index.html This is the Fruit Loop where the OP found a map with 36 suggested stops. |
I've always thought the Fruit loop included Mt Hood as well...

The Fruit Loop includes great VIEWS of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams.

lcuy--Yeah, that is what a lot of people think:)
HTTY--True, the loop does have nice views. |
There was a nice write up in our paper today about the fruit loop. It was in the Oregonian in the travel section, so you should be able to find it online.
