Oregon Coast Trip
I'm taking 9 days and driving the Oregon Coast for photographs in mid-September. Does anyone have any lodging recommendations for the towns of Lincoln City and Gold Beach? Thanks in advance for your help.

Any particular reason to stay in Lincoln City? I prefer staying elsewhere, as it's a little busy for my preferences.
In Gold Beach, one of the best lodges anywhere is the Tu Tu Tun Lodge, seven miles up the Rogue River. If you can get in there (it books up well in advance), it's well worth it IMO. |
I won't suggest places to stay, but if you don't already have it can I recommend the book The Photographer's Guide to the Oregon Coast by David Middleton and Ron Barbee.

Thanks for the recommendations, they have been duly noted. BTW, I have ordered the book.

Look at Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport rather than Lincoln City. It's a funky place with rooms named for authors. They have great dinners where you sit family style and get to know the other guests.

just 20 min north of Lincoln City is Neskowin
www.neskowinoregoncoastvacationrentals.com quait, terrific resturant, way better than staying in the middle of the bustle of Lincoln City with constant traffic, t shirt shops, etc. |
texan, you will enjoy the book I'm sure - we used it as our guide along the Oregon coast. It includes interesting things to see a short way inland from the coast too, like the Darlingtonias, Yachats river covered bridge, and Oregon redwoods. The directions are very clear and easy to follow to these out of the way places. Lots of great tips in it for finding good rock pools and pull outs for great photos.
Enjoy your trip! |
