Yeah, minimum stay requirements might be a problem, particularly in the more popular coastal towns. How much time do you have, and how far south are you planning to go?

With all there is to do in the area, you'll easily fill two days/nights in Cannon Beach. But, if one is all you've got, check out this place: http://tinyurl.com/225jk8. Don't know if they have minimum stay requirements, and it's not on the beach, but I think you'd like it.

Instead of Newport and the dunes area, why not pick a town between like Yachats, and stay 2 - 3 nights there. A couple summers ago, we stayed 1 night at Overleaf Lodge: http://www.overleaflodge.com/. Spectacular!! But they were renovating at the time, so may also have now the minimum stay.

Bandon? Hmmmm.... You're not golfers, are you? ;-)

The Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast is a great place in Bandon.

Hello, We had the most amazing trip involving several of your stops about 8 years ago. We flew into Seattle, staying 1 night on Puget Sound then traveled around the Olympic Peninsula, drove along the Columbia River in Portland, saw Mt. St. Helens, went to an amusement area on Mt. Hood, saw Crater Lake, stayed overnight in a treehouse south of Bend, OR, continued south, Redwood National Park, Sequoia National Park, stayed at a hotel on the beach in Northern CA, and ended our trip with a few days in San Francisco. It was great! (Please excuse me if I've got the order of things wrong!) Dee
