Oregon Coast in September
Thinking of going to coastal Oregon for a week in September, specifically, the Overleaf Lodge in Yachats. Comments on this hotel, anyone? And is Yachats a good base? Basically just want to "veg out".

We stayed at the Overleaf Lodge last year.It was on the ocean, clean rooms, and included a great breakfast. Our only problem was the weather- freezing in July!

yachats is a great town--with a number of b & bs out of town a ways if you want peace and quiet and the beauty of the ocean--don't know of the place you netion--but just stayed at "Seaquest" and the "Ziggarat" or something like it was next door

September should be lovely at the coast. Yachats is an ok base. Have heard it has lovely beaches. Florence is less than an hour south and has some dunes - rent a dune buggy and a little downtown fun for a walk-through. Newport is just a little north with more nice beaches, lighthouse open to the public, wonderful aquarium and great downtown.

The weather should be nice but perhaps some rain. The coast is almost always windy. So layer up and you'll be fine.

Enjoy!

Rita, we just returned from a two week trip to Oregon and spent five nights in Yachats. We loved it! It is a small, laid back place with so many nice locals. Some great restaurants. You hear a lot about Le Serre, which was very good, but there is a place called Drift Inn which we really enjoyed. Relaxed atmosphere and great food and beer on draft. (their cobbler was to die for!). We rented a house through ocean odyssey and were very pleased with the accomodations. Yachats was so wonderful we have decided to try to move there. Earthworks gallery in town is very nice. Go to Cape Perpetua also. Have fun!!
