Oregon Coast

I'm planning a trip to the Oregon and I'm planning on spending 5 days along the coast. I'm trying to plan on spending the 5 days in at most two different cities and was just hoping to take day trips. I just don't want to spend the vacation packing and unpacking. I'll be flying into Portland and was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion on what cities along the coast that I might want to pick for settling down.

Thanks for any help.

My husband and I have stayed at "The Beach House at Sprit Cove" just north of Gold Beach and in Yachats. I loved both places. The Beach house website doesn't oversell it. It's a wonderful place. The house is immaculate, comfortable, and quiet. Except for the waves!

In Yachats, we stayed in the Adobe Inn. An old place, but an amazing view of the ocean. I imagine there are some nicer places on that part of the coast. Loved Yachats.

I've heard nice things about Manzanita, but I've never been that far north.

Have a great time.

Cannon Beach...Stephanie Inn is one of several nice places

Yachats...Adobe is fine, Overeaf is newer with same view

Gleneden Beach..Salishan Lodge (Starwood)..particularly if you golf

Gold Beach..TuTuTun lodge, and check out the jet boats (quite a drive from Portland).

Unless you're up for the long drive, I'd think about a couple nights in Cannon Beach, then a couple more in Gleneden or Yachats

Newport is a great place to spend a few days. Also, check out Bandon by the Sea. It is less crowded and there are some nice beach houses.

If you are looking for "cities" along the coast, you are checking the wrong state as Oregon has no cities along the coast. The biggest towns population wise are Lincoln City (which is really a combination of towns that sort of ran together) or Newport.
As someone said Yachats and Newport are both nice and have much to offer...Newport has more activities and places to eat. I'd NEVER recommend the Adobe to anyone! Very run down and surly staff...untypical of Oregon. Cannon Beach has lots of art galleries and is much closer to Portland so you might want to stay there and then Newport.

I have been to every city on the Oregon coast and I would choose Cannon Beach over all the others any day. It is gorgeous. Any specific questions, I would be happy to answer. I also highly recommend the Stephanie Inn.

I lived in Coos Bay for 10 years and know the coast very well. First...the entire coast is wonderful...if you go the beach and there is another couple...its a crowded day. Of the towns mentioned I would lean towards Bandon...Newport ...and Cannon. The trip between Florence and Newport is as beautiful as it gets. Stop in for some Bandon cheese if you get down that way!
