Cannon Beach and Newport are a few of my favorites. Dislike Lincoln City, not overly fond of Seaside.

I recommend Cannon Beach area! We usually share a house that one of our friend's arranges so not sure what to recommend as far as affordable lodging. The ones I remember looking like they would be affordable were Cannon Beach Hotel, Ecola Creek Lodge and Haystack Resort. I think they are all about a block to the beach. The Hallmark Resort is right near the house we rent and is on the beach. Looked nicer so probably a little more expensive. I would think they would have a website or contact the Oregon Visitors Bureau.

Try Mo's for dinner in Cannon Beach--best crabcakes ever!

Try posting this to the Oregon board. It will be at the top there longer than on the big US board, and people who know Oregon check that board regularly.

For a huge number of updated info on just about everything the traveler to Oregon would want to know you should take a look at a web site I found when I did a search on Metacrawler. It's at
http://hometown.aol.com/Oceandoxie/travel.html
