Oregon Accommodation: Bandon and Newport

Hi everyone..now that I've narrowed down California, I am looking for any good recommendations for places to stay in Bandon and Newport, OR. Under $125 is preferable due to our ever weaker Canadian dollar. I have done a search on this forum for these two places but haven't turned up much.Thanks in advance all....
cheers,
Pete

You ask about Bandon and Newport. Here are responses I sent someone who earlier had been asking about those towns.

In Bandon the places we have stayed at that have been in budget price range are;
the Bandon Beach Motel (near a nice beach), Bandon Wayside Motel (on the
highway...cheaper), the Gorman Motel (some rooms in that range...some ocean
views), the Table Rock Motel (funky old place near beach) and some of the rooms
at both Sunset Motel and Inn at Face Rock. Most of these motels are within
a mile or less of each other.

We stayed a few nights at the Ocean House in Newport. Not budget at all but around or maybe above your limit. Very beautiful gardens and grounds. It's on a cliff over a long beach and has lots of steps down to the beach. The room was nice. The owner was not very friendly or warm (not your typical B&B host). He waas just remote but not rude. Breakfast was not a hot meal but continental. The house is nice but the rooms upstairs have a sort of odd layout with the laundry right in the middle of the hall between the guest rooms so you have to walk by the dirty laundry piled up to get to your expensive room (and it is expensive). Gardens are the best thing about it.

Peter,

A lovely place to stay near Newport is Tyee Lodge, a B & B with steps down to the beach. Lovely hosts and a great gourmet breakfast. Nature preserve, tidepools nearby. Quiet beach location yet close to Newport's activities, and good restaurants (one, I think "Sharks" was the name, was excellent).

Karen
