Orchids Restaurant in Oahu?...
Has anyone eaten at Orchids restaurant in the Halekalani on Oahu? We are going to be staying one night at this hotel on the island and were trying to find one great place to eat...

I agree with tom42. La Mer has been voted the best French Restaurant in Hawaii. See:

I've eaten at Orchids at Thanksgiving dinner; food was delicious and the service excellent--but I realize this (buffet) is not the typical Orchids dinner.
Whichever you choose, try to have a drink outdoors in the evening at House Without a Key, preferably during the wonderful hula performance.

We have eaten at Orchids many times. You will not be disapointed. It is elegant without being stuffy. The food is to die for too. Try to get an outside table around 6:00 PM. The sunset is beautiful as well as the views. The service is perfection as well as the food.
We are staying at the Halekulani again in March and can't wait to eat at Orchids and La Mer again.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Since we are not much into French food it looks like we will enjoy a dinner at Orchids.
BTW, fivestar, what dates will you be at the Halekulani? We will be there March 2-3...

We will be there on March 22-27th. We booked a Diamond Head Room. We have always stayed in the courtyard area overlooking the pool so this will be a nice change of view. I am getting really itchy to go.
