Opinions please on Hotel Monaco, Wyndham, Crowe Plaza, Palmer House

My husband and I are spending one night in Chicago and I picked these hotels so I could walk to the art institute the next morning. Of these hotels, Hotel Monaco, Palmer House, Crowne Plaza-silversmith and Wyndham, which do you prefer as for size, comfort, location, food?
Thanks, Serena

I have only stayed at Palmer House so may not be of much help. However, I have stayed there over a dozen or so times for business and each time the rooms and service were consistently great. Some rooms though are on the very small size, but you can ask for one of the larger ones. Food is okay, not anyting to really brag about, but not horrible either.

The Silversmith and Palmer House are closest to the Art Institute. The Monaco is 5-6 blocks away, and the Wyndham is in a different neighborhood.

I've also only stayed at the Palmer House of those you have listed. The rooms are small that i've been in, but one of my co-workers recently was in a rather huge room, so they can be had it appears.

It doesn't matter if the rooms are small though--the Palmer House is beautiful. The lobby is worth spending some time in....and isn't it on a Historic site register as well?
