Opinions on driving from D.C. down to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
What a nice website this is! Please help if you can. We'll be flying in to Baltimore, MD in March, hopefully spending a few days doing D.C., then driving down south, stopping to see historical sites until we get to Myrtle Beach to relax a few days. My hubby thinks it might not be a good drive down. Anybody ever done it?

I have frequently driven from New York City to Myrtle Beach over a two day period. The drive from DC to Myrtle Beach is a piece of cake assuming good weather. It should take you about 6 hours. Just stay on 95 until you are about 50 miles from Myrtle Beach.

Last summer we drove from DC to Sunset Beach, NC, just 20 miles north of MB, SC. It's a 6-7 hour drive down 95. Some use 301 or some such road out of Baltimore - please look at a map. If you take 95, it's interstate most of the way. As you go south, you also tend west, so it takes you away from the coast. You must at some point swing over to 17 south. If you go, depends on how badly you want to get to MB, SC. By the way, just as you get into NC there is a terrific bar-b-que place - Ralph's. Ask anyone. There may be a sign on 95.

Do you know what town Ralph's BBQ is in? If you remember a town, I'll get the phone number for you.
I assume it's close to I-95 but there are several towns it could be.
By the way, there is a big BBQ war in NC. Eastern style which is a vinegar base sauce on minced pig meat usually cooked overnight on a "cooker" (often a converted heating oil tank) and western, which is a tomato base sauce on sliced pig meat usually pit cooked.
My guess is Ralph's serves eastern style. MMM, barbeque (image of a Homer Simpson face appearing now). 'Cue, slaw, stew, hushpuppies, mmm.
