Shauna,

My husband and I were in Kauai last November from the 11th to the 18th and it was beautiful. We stayed in the Poipu area and loved every minute. I got a screen saver and have daily views of the island. What a great way to start a work day. Anyway, the south shore is the best bet in the winter time as the waves on the north shore can be rough that time of year. We visit several beaches on the north shore but (with the exception of Hanalei Bay) were not brave enough to swim, and we are both strong swimmers - but sane swimmers. From the helicopter ride we took, we could see the rip tides on some of those beaches. Don't get worried though, there are plenty of beaches in the West, South, and East that you can play in. Again, we had wonderful weather.
