Ontario to Bend
 

We will be traveling from Salt Lake City to Bend, Oregon. The suggested route from Ontario seems to be Hwy 20. Route 26 thru John Day looks like it might be a more scenic drive and is not much longer. Any advice as to which route would be preferable? Thanks.

I am not the best at directions however once you are in Bend I can recommend the Riverhouse Resort. They have a ton of stuff to do and have a beautiful location. Worth the stay!!!!

Hwy 26 is definitely more scenic, but when are you doing this? There's a much higher chance of encountering snow over hwy 26.

We took our trip in Sept. and ended up on Route 26. We decided to drive up to Baker City where we visited the Oregon Trail Visitor Center. It was very interesting and a nice drive from there to Hwy 26 and on to Bend. We enjoyed our trip to Oregon and saw lots of beautiful scenery.
