Ono Grindz, North Shore Oahu Restaurants

There's a little North Shore place, Papa Ole's Kitchen, http://www.papaoles.com, that serves amazing Hawaiian lunch plates... can anyone recommend something similar in that area? Or, any style cuisine would be great. Thanks in advance.

Not sure where Papa Ole's Kitchen is, but when we visit the North Shore on our trips to Oahu, we go to:

Ted's Bakery (Shark's Bay) - great plate lunches and fabulous cream pies.

Breaker's (Haleiwa) - good seafood and reasonable prices.

Spaghettini's (Haleiwa) - good New York style pizza and Italian food.

Jameson's By the Sea (Haleiwa) - terrific seafood, but a little pricey.

Haleiwa Cafe (Haleiwa) - great breakfast and fabulous pancakes.

Jeannie: We never found any place as good as Papa Ole's Kitchen when we stayed in the area last year. Ate there 3 or 4 times. Breakfast was our favorite. Even though I'm no help, I want to thank you for posting... and bringing back such a fond memory.

Haleiwa Eats is a funky little Thai restaurant on the main road through Haleiwa. Pretty good food, at reasonable prices.

Don't forget shave ice at Aoki's!

One caution about Jameson's. It can be pretty bad. We have had shrimp salad there that I had to send back because it tasted like it was four days old. Yecch!! And our friends also had bad food there. It's a chancy thing, and too expensive to have a bad experience, IMO.

I just looked at Papa Ole's and found it is way down in Laie Bay, near the Polynesian Cultural Center. I think that's a far stretch from North Shore.
