Only 1 day to sightsee 1 island!

My hubby & I will be going to Honolulu in Feb. for a business trip for 5 days. We have only 2 days (second day & last day we're there!) for fun & sightseeing. We have already been to Oahu numerous times & have been to Maui & Big Island & would love to go to Kauai or Molokai. Problem is...we just have 1 day to get everything in that the island has to offer. Our plan is to get up very early & leave the Hilton Hawaiian Village & head to the airport to catch a flight, rent a car & just drive around an island taking in all it has to offer, have lunch, sightsee a little more then return to the airport & head back to Honolulu for the evening, as we will have a business dinner to go to. (Probably have a couple of drinks after a wild & crazy day!) Any thoughts? I know, we're crazy for thinking we can cram in so much in so little time, but we've already "been there, done that" on Oahu & wanted to do something different. Hubby is too busy to stay extra days so thought we would make the best of it!

Are you crazy for wanting to go to Kauai for a day? Of course not! Get am early start and have fun.

Planning on "getting everything in that the island has to offer" in that one day is pretty crazy. Give yourself a break on the quantity arena and concentrate on just hanging out.

Rent the car and head to the North Shore for a stroll in Hanalei and a visit to one of the fabulous beaches there. I think the place is called Hanalei Gourmet and it is in a green building/former school house. I would pick this for a lunch stop. They make great food and drinks and service is always gracious.

Going back South now, and if you have plenty of time, you may enjoy a stop at Kilauea to see the lighthouse and a lovely view there.

Still on your way back South, stop by Jim Saylor's Jewelry in Kapaa for a new string of pearls, pair of earrings, etc.! An Anniversary or a Birthday gift, even an early one??

You may or may not have enough time to drive over to Koloa and a visit to Poipu Beach, maybe Hyatt for a visit..

Before hopping on the plane back to Honolulu, have a meal at Hamura Saimin in Lihue!

That would be my idea of a quality day on Kauai.

Normally I would say "crazy", but given your situation and your past trips to Hawaii... I say go for it!

Although I really hate organized bus tours, this is exactly the type of situation that warrants one: you only have one day, and you want to see the highlights. I did a day tour to Oahu with Polynesian Adventures, and I recommend them.

I have to agree with anna_roz. Get up very, very early and plan on getting back to the HHV late, but I would go for it.
