One-Way trip to DC from NYC....cheap flights
Hi!
I'm looking for a 1-way non-stop ticket from NYC to DC via air. I looked on the various airlines and expedia but the tickets were more expensive than the round trip. Anybody have any suggestions for flying cheaper? Otherwise, will have to take the train I reckon. Cheers, gtrekker2003 |
Buy a round-trip ticket and only use half?

A few months back I got a one way for about $65 on AA from LGA to DCA. It was 2 weeks out from the travel date.

When are you going?

Have you checked the fare on JetBlue? They charge the same for one-way or nonstop, but timing has a huge impact in the actual fare. JetBlue flies from Dulles to JFK (not a terribly convenient route, if you ask me, but if the price is right ...).

The train goes from downtown to downtown and you save on cab fares and some time waiting in airports.

I'm leaving on 5th October. Maybe I should keep trying closer to the date. Otherwise, I'll opt for the train.
Thanks everybody! |
AA or DL, one-way from JFK to DCA. $105.
Train is $67 for regional service, $146 or $167 for Acela Express. |
My experience has been the lower fares are 2 weeks out. Amtrak fares vary depening upon availability. $67 is the lowest fare and it goes up from there on the regular Amtrak train.

kayak lists any number of flights from various NYC airports to various DC airports starting at $125 on 10/5. Although it seems ridiculously early, that is Columbus Day weekend so fares may be a little higher because of that.

While one way may not be half of a roundtrip ticket, it sure isn't MORE than a 1 way ticket from what I see. If you leave on Sat. the 6th, prices are much less. Look on kayak.com
